This May I’ll be returning to one of my favourite places, Mèlisses, on the Island of Andros for a creative retreat like no other. The venue is a secluded B&B nestled on the side of a mountain with panoramic views of the sea & distant islands. The location is idyllic, serene & otherworldly, think Rivendell but Greek!

The property is surrounded by native flora, fruit trees & herbs, the paths that meander through the property are lush with thyme and lead to the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful Mediterranean. The kitchen, supplied daily with fresh eggs & produce from the vegetable garden, looks out onto a pool that blends into the horizon. Mèlisses is a piece of paradise.

I’ll be joining Allegra Pomilio & Blakely Little for ‘En Plein Air Rtreat’, a gathering of creativity, painting, culinary experiences and natural dyeing. We will visit the ancient towns of Andros and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean while basking in the breathtaking scenery of the Island.

I’ll be introducing guests to the process of natural dyeing, using plants foraged from the gardens. We’ll dye fabrics & fibres, experimenting & exploring the colours of the Aegean. Blakely will share her expertise in creating art, from composition to colour & process (and so much more). Her unique style is enchanting & infectious.

Allegra Pomilio, our host is Mèlisses’ founder, her knowledge of hospitality and gastronomy, combined with her skills in photography and visual art are beyond inspiring. One of the most gracious women I have met, she is a gentle powerhouse. Every year, together with her small team, she hosts gatherings focused on discovering the island’s wonders, each time from a different perspective.
