It is the ancient practice of extracting natural colour from plants, invertebrates, lichens, fungi, or minerals to dye fibre, fabric or textiles naturally.
You'll need a pot, sodium carbonate (sold as soda ash or washing crystals), a mordant (a magical ingredient that helps the colour fix) something to dye, water, heat & a dye plant.
Start with simple kitchen ingredients, like avocado stones or skins, pomegranate rinds, black tea, coffee, or onion skins. For a straightforward reference to natural colour, take a look at 'The Guide To Natural Colour & Plant Dyes'.
