This next workshop, which I am most excited about, is in collaboration with my lovely friend and creative magic maker Jeni Glasgow. In an old courtyard, in the plains of County Meath, we’ll gather to create, forage & feast.
Brought to life in the depths of winter when both Jeni & I needed something to lift us out of that very bleak northern hemisphere darkness. We conspired to create a day based around coming together, creativity & the beautiful bounty of the summer months. It made sense to host our beautiful event in the homes of Jeni & her mum, Mo Glasgow. Mo lives opposite Jeni in a stone-cobbled courtyard on the grounds of an old country house.
It’s hard to put words on what Jeni does, simply put she creates magic. She takes the ordinary & elevates it to something unique, something to be celebrated, appreciated and savoured. She has the Midas touch when gathering, nourishing and sharing with others. By her very being she creates & weaves beauty into all she touches.
Her home, a testament to her individuality, style, elegance, and unlimited creativity, is her living art, filled to the brim with character, whimsy and ridiculous amounts of inspiration. An accomplished feast maker, known and respected amongst the food industry. Others may know of her from the renowned ‘Eastern Seaboard & the Brown Hound Bakery’. Jeni left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to dine under her roof.
And so, within her & Mo’s beautiful homes, gardens & orchards, in the most idyllic setting in the Irish countryside, we will gather together to celebrate all that is good & beautiful during these glorious months of summer. We’ll enjoy the peace of this incredible property, the perfect backdrop & stage to experience the beauty of nature. With Mo’s abundant garden, the alchemy of natural dyeing & a sumptuous feast created by Jeni, it’s sure to be a joyous affair.
We’ll spend the morning foraging around the property, making dye baths & extracting colour. You’ll learn about sources of plant dye all around us during this prolific season. Guests will experiment with a beautiful palette of natural colour, make inks, dye textiles and paint on handmade paper. We’ll break for a lunch created by Jeni, with locally sourced, organic & seasonal bounty, she will nourish us all. After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to dye an item of your own & document the colours you’ve created.
This day will be one to remember, it’s sure to be filled with stunning colours, connections, chats and if the other workshops are anything to go, a refreshing dose of laughter! Participants will leave with full hearts, full bellies, newfound skills, a naturally dyed final piece to take home, along with their natural dye journal. This is a small event, so if you’d like to join us be sure to book soon as spaces are filling up. Update: This workshop has sold out, add your name to the waitlist & we’ll let you know if we have any cancellations.
